University of South Florida Sarasota-Manatee leaders on Wednesday unveiled an ambitious expansion of their campus they say will double enrollment to almost 10,000 students and give an economic shot in the arm to the area around U.S. 41 at the county line. … Officials acknowledged that with state lawmakers allocating very little money for capital projects, they will have to partner with local businesses to make their plans a reality. But their ambition shows how far the school has come in little more than five years since it shared a campus and a sometimes uneasy relationship with New College of Florida.It moved to its own 28.5-acre campus in 2006.
